WindBine TM

Why the Wings?

Accelerator Wings:

The distinctive and characteristic ‘wings’ of the Inventor’s WindBine TM doesn’t allow it to fly, but the props certainly do fly as a result of them!  The wings are a part of the patented features of the Inventor's WindBine TM machine. These ‘wings’ generate a venturi effect to accelerate the wind through the props, increasing the power production versus not having these ‘wings’! This is highly significant and a 2 X’s increase in wind speed results in an 8 X’s increase in power production as power results from a volume of wind travelling at a velocity and then converted to electrical energy! The ‘wings’ also direct the Inventor’s WindBine TM accurately into the on-coming wind as do the props mounted on the downwind side of the fuselage body. The ‘wings’ and the ‘fins’ they are attached to allow for both colour and design choices according to the artistic preferences of the User/Builder should he or she choose to copy the version of the Inventor’s WindBine TM that he chose to use!  The accelerator wings started as punched and powder coated flat aluminum sheets and automatically formed into shape as they were assembled onto the Inventor’s WindBine TM. They are of a Rogallo style, much like a hang-glider, with flatter leading edge and more curved trailing edges.  They are securely yet flexibly attached to the 10 fins that are braced from one side to the other and directly to the fuselage body. They are pretensioned in assembly by the use of 5/16” diameter steel rod turnbuckles, locking at each end. The ‘wing assembly’ is supported by the top fin that is internally bolted to the fuselage bulkheads and by a strong thrust bearing at the very top of the internal tower that the Inventor’s WindBine TM body rotates around.  A series of 5 roller stations down the fuselage body allow the WindBine TM to smoothly roll on the internal tower tube as it rotates to follow the wind direction.

The Slingshot WEST Website and Store has been created by the Alberta, Canada private company 'Slingshot WEST' or 'Slingshot Wind Energy Systems Inc'. The purpose of the Slingshot WEST Website and Store is to provide you, the individual User/Builder with 'art' in the form of Copyright drawings, designs and electronic CAD files to use the 'art' to make the WindBine TM of the Inventor, or make whatever DYI or 'Do It Yourself' wind turbine, wind powered generator or renewable energy project you want to make out of it for your own personal use!

This may be for off-grid battery bank charging, for grid-tie applications or for whatever project you have in mind! You may wish to copy the Inventor's wind powered generator that he calls the WindBine TM! This uses venturi type shrouds or 'accelerator wings' that speed the wind through the turbine blades or propellers (props) to be able to run with smaller and less costly and lower maintenance blades!

A MAIN GOAL OF THE DEVELOPMENT of the Inventor's WindBine TM was to design as many of the components as possible that can be made anywhere in the world by sheet metal shops and machinists LOCAL to the User/Builder! As well, the auxiliary components such as brake calipers and rotors or sprockets and belts are available from multiple different suppliers all over the world and DO NOT HAVE TO BE SINGLE-SOURCED! For the User/Builder, this means INDEPENDENCE!

Having said this, there are a number of custom components that you may well well wish to purchase from the Slingshot WEST Store for your projects such as the props or blades, alternator kits, transformers (no charge controller is required for the Inventor's WindBine TM as the alternators are field controlled and calibrated for best performance), circuit boards and GUI or Graphical User Interface! NOTE: All of the Collections of Products on the Slingshot WEST Store comprise the Inventor's WindBine TM machine. All of these comprise the Copyright 'art' that is provided to the User/Build to design and make his particular project. Under Copyright the User/Builder may make his or her own personal project assembling this 'art' as did the Inventor to build his WindBine TM, or in any other way the User/Builder decides to use it to make his or her own non-commercial project! The Slingshot WEST Store will also be selling high voltage custom alternator kits of both 6 kW and 12 kW (kilowatts) for the DIY builder for either the Inventor's WindBine TM machine you may choose to build, or for other clean or alternate energy systems!  Other hardware components will be made available as well including Charge Controllers, Transformers (that for the Inventor's WindBine TM may preclude the need of a charge controller) and for the GUI (Graphical User Interface) that uses the Peak HMI platform, control circuit boards and wind turbine blades or 'props'! The Slingshot WEST Store is dedicated to the home or DIY User/Builder and does not sell to corporations or institutions however, if you represent a company you are most welcome to contact Slingshot WEST via the Contact menu to discuss manufacturing license of other possible contractual relationships with our company! Enjoy browsing this Website and planning your wonderful project! Drop me an email at atocher@slingshotwest.com for any questions you may have. The User/Builder forum is coming soon as well!  And remember, the "Wind blows where it wills" (from John 3:8) and the adventure begins when we move with it and follow the Spirit of the Lord!  Enjoy!

Power of the Wind: A Beginner's Guide to Small Wind Turbines Harnessing wind
energy for personal use is becoming increasingly popular’. Small wind turbines,
especially combined with solar, offer a sustainable and eco-friendly way to
generate electricity, supplementing or even replacing grid power in some cases.
But choosing the right setup can feel daunting. Slingshot West simplifies the
process with our DIY designs and kits for building your own small wind turbine
such as the WindBine TM that the inventor made from these same drawings,
designs and components! Our designs and kits provide many necessary components,
from high-efficiency blades designed for optimal energy capture to robust high
voltage alternators capable of handling varying wind speeds. We also offer
customisable control software, allowing for best performance, precise
monitoring and energy management. This means you can design a system tailored
to your specific needs and location. Consider factors like average wind speed,
available space, and power requirements when selecting your turbine size and
components. Proper installation is crucial for safe and efficient operation.
Our detailed instructions and support resources guide you through each step of
building the wind turbine that the inventor made that he calls the WindBine TM,
